Health is wealth. As per today's situation where people lead a busy and sedentary life style, people hardly find time to prepare and consume food at regular intervals. As a result food products like ready to eat, fast food etc are in market which is in great demand. Intake of such food products leads to ill effects in the body which we have been known through television and newspaper.
As a result of this improper balanced diet, the food does not get digested properly and remains in the end part of the digestive system i.e. colon or large intestine and leads to the formation of diseases like allergies, arthritis, constipation, diarrhea, headache, skin problems, hemorrhoids, flatulence, recurrent infections of GI tract etc.
During earlier days, grandmothers used to give castor oil to their children or grandchildren who used to suffer from stomach ache and indigestion which the indigested material gets eliminated from the body further relieving the symptoms. This procedure was further carried on once in 3 months to maintain the health of the person. In the same way, in AYURVEDA we have a treatment named VIRECHANA wherein, by this treatment, the indigested, toxic waste material gets eliminated. Virechana treatment is one among the panchakarma treatment mentioned in Ayurveda. By this treatment we can not only eliminate the toxic indigested material but it also helps in reducing the fat deposition in our body, thus maintaining the health of the person.
Now in Naturopathy, we have a treatment named "colon hydrotherapy" wherein from this treatment both the healthy and unhealthy persons can be benefited. Colon hydrotherapy being a medicine, treatment it also helps in maintaining the health of the normal person.
The colon, or large intestine, is the end portion of the human digestive tract (food carrying passageway extending from the mouth to the anus).
The colon is approximately 5 feet long and 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Its major functions are to eliminate waste and to conserve water. Also, there are bacteria living in the colon which synthesize valuable nutrients such as vitamins "K" and portions of the vitamin "B" complex.
Well, waste material, especially that which has remained in the colon for some time, (i.e. impacted faeces, dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucous, parasites, worms, etc.), poses several problems. First this material is quite toxic (poisonous). These poisons can re-enter and circulate in the blood stream making us feel ill, tired or weak. Second, impacted materials impair the colon's ability to assimilate minerals and bacteria- produced vitamins. And finally, a build-up of material on the colon wall can inhibit muscular action causing sluggish bowel movements, constipation, and the result of these disorders.
Colon hydrotherapy is an "internal bath" of the large intestine with warm filtered water - a safe, re-energizing, restorative non-medical procedure. A "colonic" cleansing is one of the most effective ways to get rid of toxic accumulations of bodily waste (which can build up over years), excess mucus, toxic compounds, and gas. It also helps restore colon muscle tone, rebalances intestinal flora, and improves overall health. Improving one's system of elimination removes the body's primary source of disease. A healthy, clean colon is essential to a healthy body.
Many people have pre-conceived ideas about Colonic Hydrotherapy and Colonic Irrigation and imagine the worst, whereas it is in fact a colonic treatment which leaves you feeling clean, revitalized and well. It was used in UK hospitals until relatively recently when the cost became uneconomical in face of strong purgatives used before bowel procedures.
The colonic treatment itself exercises and tones the bowel thus aiding the evacuation of waste both during and after treatment. The toxic load on the body is reduced.
The colon, or large intestine/bowel, is an important organ situated at the end of the digestive tract in the abdominal cavity. It is divided into several regions: the appendix (thought to be a vestigial structure, but with rich lymphatic supply), the ascending, the transverse, the descending and the sigmoid colon and the rectum. The anus acts as a valve under voluntary control.
Its functions are to re-absorb digestive juices, water-soluble salts and bile back into the bloodstream and thence to the liver, to store and desiccate food and other bodily wastes prior to elimination, and to house a vast array of beneficial bacteria,. The latter help our immunity to infection, keep high blood cholesterol levels in check produce a number of vitamins, and probably also act in preventing of colon cancer.
The form of the colon is variable: most diagrams show an idealized bowel, whereas the length is variable (between about 3 to 11 feet), and the path it follows can be tortuous, with many loops. For some unfortunate people, where constipation runs in their family, it is likely that they have inherited long bowels making transit time long and slow – just where colon hydrotherapy can help!
The bowel structure is made from smooth muscle which is different to ordinary body muscle inasmuch as it is under autonomic (or automatic) nerve regulation over which we have no conscious control. When working normally, it is expected that the bowel will partially empty (during defecation) at least once every 24 hours. If long or slow, the transit time is increased and constipation occurs, or if fast and disordered, muscle spasm may result which is a feature of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, strangely also accompanied by constipation together with bloating, irregular defecation and incomplete evacuation.
The colon is the main part of the eliminative system of the body, where wastes are excreted from the alimentary tract, the lymphatic system and the bloodstream. It is important to keep bowel function regular to prevent the other eliminative organs becoming overworked, and to avoid the effect of toxins building up in the body.
The client relaxes comfortably on a massage table as a small sterile, disposable rectal tube or speculum is gently inserted into the anus. The speculum has a separate water line and waste line that is attached to the hydrotherapy equipment. You are completely covered with a modesty sheet during the entire process, and because this is a closed system there is no offensive smell. No mess, no fuss, no smell.
The therapist then begins a series of gentle infusions of the warm water into the colon, controlling the water temperature and pressure. A digital ounce counter shows amount of water intake and breathing techniques help the client with opening and relaxing the colon. As soon as the client experiences any urgency or fullness, the waste line is opened.
The water, along with old fecal material, gas, mucus, and toxins are released through the waste line and then through the illuminated viewing tube so that the amount and type of waste being eliminated can be thoroughly assessed. The waste is then flushed away through the sewer line.
No special preparation is necessary before your colonic treatment appointment, although large meals and lots of fluids are not advised.
When visiting a registered colon hydro therapist they will expect you to be nervous, but will put you at ease. The first appointment includes taking your case history, explaining the procedure and the treatment itself.
A brief rectal exam must be carried out, then a speculum is introduced 1.5inches (4cm) to open the sphincter. An inlet and outlet tube is attached to the outside of the speculum, so the system is open, with water going in and water and waste out. The waste is piped away.
one time, acting to dilate the lower bowel, stimulating the bowel to empty itself. In all, about 15 liters enters the bowel during treatment, and the vast majority also comes out again. The water pressure is carefully controlled and is in fact lower than is normally generated during a bowel movement.
At first, water is fed into the lower bowel whilst you are on your left side, then after about 10 minutes your therapist will ask you to turn onto your back, and using gentle massage techniques across the bowel profile, will work around the whole bowel assisting the elimination of waste and gas pockets.
Some herbal infusions may be used during colonic treatment, and a pro biotic (friendly bacteria) implant may be given afterwards if indicated.
In all, the colonic treatment takes about 30-45 minutes on the couch.
Rarely Sometimes during the procedure the muscles of the colon will contract suddenly, expelling considerable liquid and waste into the rectum and out the tubing. This contraction may feel like cramping or gas with pressure in the rectum. Most of the process is mild and gentle with a wonderful light, empty and clean feeling afterwards.
This does depend upon the individual and advice will be given after your first treatment. It may vary from only one treatment to several spread out over a period of time, after which preventative or maintenance treatments may be recommended.
Yes. As a trained therapist-conducted treatment, the insertion is in expert hands, the filtered water is at low pressure and there is no danger of perforation. All equipment used is either disposable or sterilized using hospital –approved sterility or regularly serviced autoclaves, so there is virtually no risk of cross-infection.
Although large numbers of friendly bacteria are expelled during treatment, they quickly breed back up to strength, and the environment after treatment is usually better than before, thus leading to a better balance.
Colonic hydrotherapy, unlike the use of laxatives, enemas or slant boards, is not habit-forming and actually improves the tone of the colon.
Many conditions benefit from colonic irrigation, including:
Allergies | Arthritis | Asthma |
Atonic (sluggish) colon | Bloating | Candida |
Colitis in remission | Constipation | Diarrhea |
Diverticulosis(i.e. Diverticulitis in remission) | Flatulence | Gut, leaky |
Hemorrhoids (see below) | Headache, toxic | Halitosis |
IBS | Indigestion | Leaky gut |
Lethargy | Mucous colitis | Multiple sclerosis |
ME | Parasitic infections | Skin problems: eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, acne, etc. |
Urinary urgency in females. |
Colonic irrigation, coupled with other suitable measures, is also useful during
A good cleansing program should always begin by removing the waste in your colon, the last portion of your food processing chain. If you attempt to clean your liver, blood, or lymph system without first addressing a waste filled colon, the excreted toxins will only get recycled back into your body.
One of the most frequent bowel problems that people experience today is constipation. Constipation is generally attributed to a low fiber diet and lack of sufficient water, which cause our fecal matter to become condensed and compressed.
A constipated system is one in which the transition, or "time", of toxic wastes is slow and the consistency of the stool can cause strain (which over time may cause hemorrhoids, varicose veins, hiatus hernia, or other mechanically induced problems). The longer the "transit time", the longer the toxic waste matter sits in our bowel which allows proteins to putrefy, fats to ramify, and carbohydrates to ferment.
Possible side effects from colon cleansing include migraine headaches, blinding headaches, nausea or flu, aches and pains, fever, exhaustion, and nervous symptoms such as anxiety, panic attacks, irritability, weepiness, and even profound depression. The worst of this would be over in approximately five days.
Almost never. Many of us have several and more pounds of impacted material in our colon. This is hardened, toxic matter and substantial work must be done to remove it. One cleansing removes some, the second more. When you eat a healthy diet with large amounts of vegetables and fruits which holds the moisture in the colon, the colon will cleanse easier and the process will be sped up For most people eating a standard American diet I recommend six to ten colon treatments fairly close together to receive a thorough cleansing of wthe colon. Then a monthly maintenance treatment is suggested to keep the colon cleaned and toned.
Drink water, half your weight in fluid ounces daily; not with meals, but either one to one and a half hours before meals or two hours after meals.
Learn proper food combinations for your body. They should be fresh, organic, in season, from your local area.
Reduce stress and tension by exercising and getting the proper amount of sleep. Take time in nature.
Respond to your bowel needs promptly.
The borwel/corporation water will contain 220 TDS where as 60TDS like distilled water is required for treatment, the first stage of filtration is reducing water up to 60 TDS, and filtering Sediment, dirt and rust. This will be stored in PVC/Stain steel 500ltr capacity tank. And Ozone gas generator will be fed in to the tank so that bacteria should not develop and spoil the water for longer time. In this tank Kg/CM2 /4kg pressure will be created by using 1hp motor and passed to our own designed hot and cold water in 5mm thick food grade stainless steel tank.
In the second stage, the filtered water passes through CPVC pipe up to the instrument which will be placed outside the treatment section i.e. hot, cold &chilled water filters with the help of ¼" quick release wall through control ball valve which in turn will be connected to the instrument.
In the third stage, built in ULTRAVIOLET chamber is designed suitable to the instrument using imported UV lamps and electronic system, filtering bacteria and viruses.
Then with help of in- built pressure control valve and pressure meter in the required pressure ,the purest water will be passed in 30sec/litre.
